About the Festival

Description:

The Multicultural Association of the Greater Moncton Area (MAGMA) in partnership with the City of Moncton invites one and all to the annual Mosaïq Multicultural Festival, a unique and colourful celebration of Moncton’s growing diversity. Come explore the World Village, where our many cultures showcase their traditions, music and dance, foods, arts and crafts, and so much more! Mosaïq vendors will offer mouth-watering foods from the four corners of the earth as well unique arts and crafts shopping opportunities. And you won’t want to miss out on the exciting multicultural entertainment line-up featuring talent from around the world and just around the corner. The event also presents a series of educational workshops offered before, during and after the main Festival event, addressing community engagement and facilitating healthy dialogue in an effort to combat racism and cultural insensitivities. The services provided by MAGMA, and special events such as this, help to brighten the region’s attraction to new immigrants as they seek safe and welcoming communities in which to live, work, play and learn.

History:

The festival has been growing exponentially since its inception by MAGMA in 2004. Every year we see an increasing interest amongst the people of the region towards the event. In 2010 on the occasion of the IAAF World Track and Field Championships, the City of Moncton teamed up with MAGMA to present a larger more impressive multicultural celebration. The festival took on the new brand of Mosaïq Multicultural Festival, which was successfully launched to a receptive audience providing the event with important recognition on the regional, national and international stage. The production partnership continues as both organizations align their respective resources and community contributors to annually showcase this amazing mosaic of cultures.
