Afrotronix

Afrotronix
Living in Montreal, guitarist Caleb Rimtobaye, originally from Chad, has perfected his music by fusing African rhythms with electronic beats to create a “convention-shaking project” infused with digital elements, African beats, and Touareg blues. The concept of AfrotroniX was created after Caleb collaborated with producer Brian Kennedy (Ciara, Rihanna). The idea behind AfrotroniX is to create a futurist image alluding to the renewal of Africa’s role and its perception, in the collective imagination. Through his artistic expression, Caleb wonders about the state of the African continent, and through his music, he hopes to revive ways of life that are endangered or marginalized. His shows are choreographed with a futuristic feel where AfrotroniX mixes DJing and live instruments that connect rhythms such as dubstep, mbalak, rumba, and house, creating a new voice for African pop. AfrotroniX has performed and toured for the last 10 years in southern Africa, Korea, Switzerland, Canada and Australia. AfrotroniX’s last album was released in 2017, NomadiX, he has since released an EP OyO, in 2018.
